About Us

About the Sister2sister Foundation

In Australia, high numbers of teenage girls are at risk of a myriad of childhood traumas including abuse, neglect, poverty, addiction, and parental mental health issues, to name a few.

The trauma they carry is often due to deeply entrenched inter-generational social issues which result in a devastating impact on learning and social skills development and the inability of many of Australia’s teenage girls to reach their full potential.

Sister2sister Foundation provides mentor support and psychoeducation programs to empower young girls to make choices for a better future. Through one-on-one mentoring and in-school workshops, we create an enviroment that fosters self-worth and connection. Our girls develop crucial survival and life skills, along with the resilience to see themselves and their future through a different lens. Healing happens through connection, our programs seeks to build communities that cultivate connection.

Our Mission

Through connection, we empower young women to unlock their potentional for a brighter future.

With them : For them

Who we help

To identify girls with the greatest need of connection, support and guidance, we work with school counsellors, youth workers, community service caseworkers and welfare agencies to recommend girls to our programs.

How we help

We recruit, screen and train successful female volunteer mentors (Big Sisters) to partner with vulnerable teenage girls (Little Sisters). We support them through a trauma informed, structured year-long mentoring and psychoeducation program.

Impact

Through the power of 1:1 mentoring and safe consistent relationships, we empower Little Sisters to have a voice and to make positive choices for a better future. Our team structure provides an environment that fosters connection, self-worth and growth for all in our S2s community.

What we've done

Over the course of the past 19 years, Sister2sister Foundation has delivered 18 Sister2sister Mentoring Programs across NSW and VIC, supporting 497 girls to become Little Sisters. 501 Big Sister Mentors have been trained to provide safe relationships and 1:1 care and support to a Little Sister, and 8 No Limits 4 Girls School Workshop series have been delivered to Year 7 girls in NSW and VIC.

We are proud to announce that 2023 represents the year that NL4G will roll out across NSW and Queensland; allowing the program’s benefits to reach an increased number of young women and for these women to be supported by the Sister2sister Foundation.

It takes a village

Our organisation would not be what it is today without a number of extraordinary people.

Most of what happens behind the scenes is the work of volunteers who generously donate their time and skills to our cause.

We are a small but dedicated team consisting of one full time staff member, welfare support and our volunteer team leaders and Board of Directors.
